Old Navy

OMG, i am about to rip my hair out. but what do i expect when www.oldnavy.com sends out an e-mail with an additional 50% off all marked down items? Well wow, ok sign me up! Jeans and work pants and tops for $5.00! who doesn't love a bargin?! I selected my 12 items.. even tossed in a few things for the hubby... and wow lets check out... ooops... no system busy... refresh... oh now 6 of my items i wanted have already been purchased by someone else! ok check out the ones i have... ooops system busy.... there goes another item! I have been trying to check out for over an hour. I call customer service and wait 25 minutes for someone to answer the phone... "im sorry mam, our serving is upgrading." WHAT A TIME TO UPGRADE! i know one of my goals this year was to be patient.. but when i can get clothes for almost 90% off... I want them! and i want them now!
Ugh!

Swimsuits and Snow

I think somehow during the last week I was transferred to Alaska! -8 degrees! Highs of 11? and now it's snowing! I love snow.. but only when it's warm enough to go outside and play in it! And on a side note, this is Kansas people, we are use to snow, rain, ice, 80mph winds... learn to drive! I had some nut on the way to work keep hitting his breaks every 20 yards. Did he really want me to hit him? And another nutball that was doing about 60... that's speeding on a dry day!

All this snow got me to thinking about some beach, some where... then at that moment http://www.lanebryant.com/ sends me an update on their new upcoming swimwear. Now it's no secret that I am a big girl and the swim suits are different then the cute itsy bitsy bikinis. but I think i have to have this one.

But there is one thing that I never will understand... show me what it looks like with a belly! these models are like the most perfect plus size girls i've ever seen. no bellys, flabby arms, rolls, wrinkles, or thighs! Oh well.. that's why I'm exercising right? :) Happy Friday!

Inspiration

I must admit that I admire "heather drive". http://heatherdrive.blogspot.com/ She is so creative and inspiring. I try to read her blog atleast once a month. When I was planning the wedding I was probably looking at her page a couple times a week. She has tons of "DIY" projects on there and recipies and books. It makes me want to do things! I know, kinda silly. But I think I will be posting more of the recipes that Danny and I have been trying on here and my new projects and goals. A bonus is that it keeps be busy and my mind off of food! My goal in the next couple of weeks is to find some good superbowl food for Danny and I. I am starting off by trying HeatherDrives Buffalo Chicken Strips.

Here is the recipie I found on her page.

Buffalo-Style Chicken Strips(Source: Amber's Delectable Delights, adapted from: CookingLight.com)Ingredients:- 4 tbsp. all-purpose flour- 2 tsp. garlic powder- 2 tsp. paprika- 1 tsp. onion powder- 1 tsp. salt- 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper- 2 large egg whites, lightly beaten- 3 cups coarsely crushed cornflakes- 1 lb. chicken breasts, cut into 1/2-inch-thick strips- Cooking spray- 1/3 cup hot sauce (such as Crystal)- 1 tsp. hot pepper sauce (such as Tabasco)- 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce- 1 tbsp. butter- 1/2 cup fat-free ranch dressing for dipping (can substitute blue cheese, BBQ sauce, ketchup... whatever you like to dip chicken fingers in)Directions:1. Preheat oven to 400°.2. Combine first 6 ingredients in a shallow dish, stirring with a whisk. Place egg whites in a shallow dish. Place cornflakes in a shallow dish. Working with 1 chicken strip at a time, dredge in flour mixture. Dip in egg whites; dredge in cornflakes. Place on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Repeat procedure with remaining chicken strips, flour mixture, egg whites, and cornflakes.3. Lightly coat chicken strips with cooking spray. Bake at 400° for 10 minutes or until done, turning once.4. Combine hot sauce, pepper sauce, and Worcestershire in a small saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer 1 minute. Remove from heat; stir in butter. Drizzle hot sauce mixture over chicken. (I read in the comments that it's best not to drizzle it over the chicken, because it can cause the corn flakes to lose their crunch. If you make the hot sauce, I suggest dipping the chicken in it instead.)Serve with ranch dressing, celery, and carrots.

Week One of Dieting

Conquering week one... wow i've done a complete change in my eating habbits. I did not have fast food one time this week! That is an amazing accomplishment in it's self for me. I replaced McDonalds Bagel breakfast with eggos and cheerios. No more Double Cheeseburgers and Chicken Finger Lunches... it consists of frozen meals and salads. Supper is now fresh baked chicken or turkey say good bye applebees, godfathers and china one!

Not only is this diet going to help me get healthier, it is saving me money. I figured out one week alone i was saving an average of $30 a week on breakfast. Not to mention I hate out 5 times a week for lunch and then my husband and I would typically eat dinner out 5 times a week. So we are saving atleast $100 a week on eating out. Yay!

The Results:
Week one went great! I lost 13.8 pounds and my husband lost 7.6 pounds and my cousin lost almost 7! So proud of everyone. I hope we have the good numbers next week! I know the second week is harder... but i didn't get this way with hard work! lol

Hello Weight Watchers

Well I made it to my first weight watchers meeting. I dont like the lady lol. I am looking for a leader that is like me, or close to my situation... someone whose had a great deal of weight to lose... are they out there? I don't know about you, but when I have over 200 pounds to lose, I am just not motivated by someone whose lost 35 pounds or so. I'm not giving up, I'm just switching days... we will see what next Tuesday brings me. I'm heavier then I've ever been. I held back the tears until after the meeting was over and then broke down in the car with my husband. He is so supportive and loving, I am so glad he is by my side doing this with me. As well as my cousin. She too gives me that kick in the butt that I need when I want to stuff my face with birthday cake.

It's time for 2009!

wow, It's been a while since I've been blogging... the holidays were good, I spent new years with my husband, friends marie and leviticus in the comfort of my apartment. I don't know about you, but I hate being charged a cover charge for one thing, and then for the dang cover charge to be anywhere from $25-$50 bucks a person just to get in to the average joe bar down the street.. and for what? A glass of champagne that I wont drink and to be around some really annoying people? I dont think so. SO i toasted my glass of wine in 09 and made the resolution to be better at money mangement and to be healthier. Im not making the resoultion to lose weight.. i always fail....

Conquer... this is my word of the year. Im going to conquer my battle with my weight and health.. Conquer my battle with my shopping addiction and poor money management... Conquer my battle to go to McDonalds and get their breakfast bagels...

In October, when my husband and friend Kristin were having heart problems, I found a wonderful online community that is geared towards weightloss. www.fatsecret.com it gives tips and advice, recipies and online community support for all sorts of diets. My husband and I, along with my cousin Marie, have joined weight watchers to help us Conquer our battle with our weight.

When i first found fat secret i was eager to get started.... since then i've gained 25 pounds... atleast! (according to the doctor scale..) Weight Watchers is starting on Monday 1-5-09 so I will have an accurate weight to start going by. It's amazing how you can just let yourself slip into your big clothes and keep drinking the dr pepper.... i've noticed the clothes shrinking.. but there was always another.. bigger.. pair of pants laying around... when does it ever stop? it stops now! Im in my biggest pair of jeans... and yep, you guessed it.. im outta bigger jeans to slip on. I just want to be able to bend over and pick something up off the floor, tie my shoes and put on my socks, sit in a booth or fit in a stadium seat, have a pair of skinny jeans and that little black dress...."cheers to a new me!"
